On the international arena as well as in national contexts, gender equality is a concept that is closely connected to the human rights agenda. It is mostly used when talking about equal rights, pay, opportunities and life prospects for women and men. It is also employed to label the goal in the struggle for women’s rights led by the feminist movements all over the world.
As this year October is dedicated to Women Empowerment at America House Chișinău, on the 20th of October, America House invited to an interview two highly distinguished guests, Katrina Fotovat, Senior Official to the Secretary of State in the Office of Global Women’s Issues and Laura Hruby, the Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Chișinău.
Our honorable guests discussed the issues women face both, on global and local levels, as well as the importance and actual benefits of gender equality, and the next step in the Women Empowerment movement. Katrina Fotovat and Laura Hruby shared their experience and thoughts about women in leadership roles and the challenges women meet on their career path.
At the end, our interviewees shared some words of inspiration to the audience to continue the fight for a better world without discrimination on the basis of gender.
