“The fight against disinformation in mass-media and online” with Natalia Beregoi

From September 8th till 11th, at America House took place the professional training program “The fight against disinformation in mass-media and online” with Natalia Beregoi, the head of Communication and International Relations Department, lecturer at the Faculty of Journalism and Communication Studies at the Moldova State University and alumna of Study of the United States Institute (SUSI) for Journalism and Media Scholars, Ohio University. 

The aim of the program was to provide candidates with the underpinning knowledge related to disinformation. 

During the 4-day program, participants learned how to identify disinformation techniques and methods, spot fake news and understand the economic and political motivations behind fake content. Participants engaged in group activities and discussions about the context and the conditions in which fake news becomes viral and reflected upon the good, the bad and the ugly of social media. 

Finally, they became aware about the consequences of distributing misleading content online and learned to stop and report the spread of online disinformation.
