On September 10th, America House Chisinau hosted a webinar on Facebook Live, with special guest Nighina Azizov. The aim was to perceive and understand the phenomenon of violence, and eliminate it through methods, other than traditional ones, such as art and culture.
During the event, Nighina Azizov explained what gender equality is, what are the inclusive policies in the field, and of course, the progress the Republic of Moldova made in this regard.
A gratifying factor is that the Republic of Moldova has recently adopted and implemented a series of normative acts, including those inspired by the international environment, whose mission is to eradicate gender equality dissonances.
Nowadays, innovative methods of promoting gender equality and eliminating violence, namely through art, music and other cultural elements, become more and more popular. They are meant to have an impact on society as an element of violence prevention, by using both strong messages focused on human values and the involvement of the right actors.
Here we refer to young people, who are the promoters of the present and the future, and through information activities and their involvement in arts, music, dance we can contribute to the destruction of stereotypes and misperceptions about gender equality and violence against girls and women, and we can educate a generation free of discriminatory elements.
The “Promoting Gender Equality through Innovative Methods such as Street Art” program is part of the campaign organized by UN Women Moldova.
