Have you wondered what it is like to be in a model’s shoes? On August 6, American Spaces volunteers Daniela Bruma and Gesica Sirbu organized an on-site modeling master class conveying valuable tips and advice on the fundamentals, practicals, and career. Daniela and Gesica are trained models from modeling agencies in the country – keen when sharing the efforts to grasp a hold of their dream.
“Modeling is the art of body language involving you, yourself, and confidence”
Agencies need models for photo shoots, magazines, social media, and promoting clothing and accessories during runway shows – models are the canvas. As many believe that modeling is a strict domain full of stringent diets, intensive workouts, and inhumane limitations – one model from the audience agrees, this masterclass was intended to prevent stereotypes and inform how the industry is redirecting its path for the better. Numerous applicable activities, video clips, and a great quiz surfaced, reminiscing the event – motivating participation among the audience.
During the Icebreaker at the beginning of the event, visitors became more intact with one another by building a safe network where questions, opinions, and ideas were encouraged.
Visitors attempted to walk and pose professionally after theoretical explanations. More precisely, the hosts revealed the model’s secrets to good posture and portfolio-constructing. Manners and public speaking skills are just as crucial. Yes, explaining was easier said than done, given that public speaking is rated the number one fear.

- Steady pace (move to the music’s beat)
- Hands move parallel to legs

- Use the accessories/props/backdrops

- Keep fingers together but not touching
Public speaking tips

- Slap your arms/legs to loosen up
Apart from individual modeling, the audience found out interesting facts about the history of the fashion industry – showing drastic figures in 2021, the global market value increased to $759.5 billion. Especially in Moldova, modeling is an emerging industry, starting strong by embellishing a congenial environment. Simultaneously, the U.S. is redirecting its methodologies by accepting all ages, genders, races, and sizes for work – a reviving commencement.
At the end, the American Spaces volunteer, Dimitrii, prepared a Mentimeter quiz to summarize the masterclass. Iulian Antoci, another American Spaces volunteer, assisted with a feedback session in order to understand what participants learned, what went well, and if there is more room for improvement.
On balance, America House freshly introduced the modeling master class, and the participants requested more similar sessions. Perhaps we plan a modeling course? – that’s an idea! Even though some do not want to pursue modeling as a career, these are worthwhile habits. Most significantly, confidence is key to unleashing yourself!
