On September 21st, America House Chișinău hosted a live event on Facebook about the project “Media Enabling Democracy, Inclusion and Accountability in Moldova (MEDIA-M)”, funded by USAID and UKaid. The special guest of this webinar was Oxana Iuteș, journalist and deputy director of Internews Moldova, the organization that implemented the nominated project. The main purpose of the MEDIA-M project is to promote an independent media and create a more resistant support system to political and economic pressures.
During this discussion, Oxana Iuteș pointed out the main objectives to be implemented in the realization of this project by 6 media institutions selected on the basis of a competition. The first objective of the project is to provide support in the form of grants and consultancy in the organizational, managerial development and content creation of these media institutions. Objective number two involves the promotion of media education among the population. The third objective is to improve the legal regulatory and expertise framework in the field of media. Lastly, the fourth objective is to strengthen organizational capacity in the local media in order to foster relations between donors and beneficiaries.
At the end of the interview, Oxana Iuteș offered some tips on how society can fight the phenomenon of Infodemia and misinformation in the context of the Covid-19 health crisis.
