The course on “Introduction to Media Literacy” took place during July 20-August 4, 2020 Course description: The course on „Introduction to Media Litaracy” provided the opportunity for teachers, educators, and young professional to gain valuable knowledge on Media Litarcy.
This course also gave the opportunity to develop a broader understanding of the role media plays in our lives. The focus of this course is understanding what Social Media is and how it is compared to traditional media, thinking about power, perpetuation or disruption of media messages, and finally analyzing representation in media and the types of bias.
Trainer – Ian Nichols Ian Nichols is a language specialist at the University of Pennsylvania. In this role, he teaches a variety of general and specialized courses.
He has served as a mentor for many students in the TESOL program at Penn’s Graduate School of Education. Before coming to the English Language Programs at Penn, Ian taught academic English at Seoul National University and Missouri State University. He also taught writing courses for native English speakers at Missouri State University and worked in short-term programs in Colombia and Switzerland. Ian holds a graduate certificate in TESOL and an MA in English literature from Missouri State University.
