Discover Moldova
“Discover Moldova” is a series of six online events organized by America House Chisinau in partnership with the National Inbound and Domestic Tourism Association of Moldova (ANTRIM). The program is meant to present the most attractive touristic routes and sites across Moldova, recommended to American visitors: U.S. Embassy staff, diplomats, Peace Corps volunteers, Fulbright scholars, and students. The Facebook-Live sessions include pre-recorded videos, virtual tours, and digital presentations moderated by experts presenting the Moldovan touristic activities, routes, and sites: wineries, fortresses, monasteries, museums, and others.
Discover Moldova: The Gastronomy Tourism
Gastronomy tourism embodies the traditional values embedded in the development of modern-day tourism in general. These include respect for culture, tradition, authenticity, and sustainability.

Discover Moldova: The Experiential Travel
Worldwide, Moldova is still an unknown destination, yet it is wild, charming, and with many hidden treasures. Cultural tourism is a great way to find out more about a country’s folklore, performing arts, festivals, cultural events, different historic sites, and monuments. In this session, Tatiana Lupascu, Tour Guide and WFTGA Accredited National Trainer talked about Martisor, a cultural practice inscribed on the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity list by UNESCO as well as other cultural practices and elements marking the authenticity of the Moldovan people, such as traditional costumes, Moldovan carpets, traditional crafts, and folk music.
Discover Moldova: The Experience of a Multicultural Moldova – The Gagauzian Region
Gagauzia is a unique region with a long and interesting history. The inhabitants of this semi-autonomous region, the Gagauzians, are a small nation with ethnic Turkish origins. Today, they live primarily in the southern region of Moldova, preserving their culture and language, traditional dishes, flavors, and wine.
In this session, our guest speaker Elena Balatel will take you on the new touristic routes in the South-West of Moldova and help you understand and fall in love with Gagauz history, culture, traditions, and cuisine, starting with Comrat, the capital of Gagauzia, through the countryside and Gagauzian villages.
