“Welcome to the America House in Chisinau!”
If you are looking for a cool place to meet friends, listen to interesting people, participate in workshops, learn a new public speaking skill, read books in English and borrow English-language movies, then the America House is the place for you! This center is administered by the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Chisinau, Moldova, and aims to provide information about the United States of America, its customs, culture, politics, history, economy, and democratic traditions. The center is open to the general public and access is free of charge.
There are many reasons why the America House (AH) is a special place. You can find here a wide collection of books and DVDs, which are available for loan to registered ARC patrons. To serve your informational and educational needs, the AH provides internet access and basic computer accessibility at six workstations. The America House also plays host to weekly activities and events to introduce and highlight various aspects of American culture, including movie screenings, book discussion clubs, speaker events, etc.

MEET OUR TEAM
MARGARETA CALUGHER – PROGRAM MANAGER
Graduate in Communication at the University of Lorraine, with a Master degree in International Project Management delivered by the University of Bordeaux-Montaigne, I am formed to coordinate projects with an intercultural or international vocation. During my study years, I’ve been blessed to benefit from a linguistic exchange program in Krasnodar, Russia, and the Erasmus+ grant for my 6-months master internship at the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy in Berlin, Germany.
Bookworm, photographer, traveler, art and French cuisine lover, I take pleasure in meeting and working with people from different cultures and backgrounds. My professional experiences in both public and private institutions, French and international, have increased my efficiency, empathy, ability to lead and be part of a multicultural team.
Convinced that one should never stop learning, I continue to improve my technical skills, incite my creativity and keep up with the latest trends. This way I ensure a diverse and updated program and the best experience for the attendees of America House!
ALEXANDR VIERU – EVENTS MANAGER
I’m happy to welcome you to America House Chișinău. I’m the events manager and I will help you to organize the speech, workshop or training. Together we are making everything possible for our guests to receive the necessary information in a cozy and friendly environment.
Books and movies are my passion and America House Chișinău has it all! A real dream job, right? And when I need to ease my mind, I take my pen and pencils and start drawing. Art therapy never lets me down!
I’ve graduated from Journalism at Moldovan State University and right after that, I’ve started working as a journalist in a morning show. While helping people to wake up for 7 years now, I was discovering new and unexpected talents in myself. I took interviews from the most interesting people from around the world. Cirque du Soleil artists, Maye Musk, winners of the Eurovision song contest – those are just a few of my guests that helped me to understand that dreams come true. You just have to put in work.
VALERIA BOTNARI – COMMUNICATION COORDINATOR
Public relations, communication, media content and promotional campaigns have one important thing in common. Audience. Engaging and informing the audience about America House Chisinau activities through qualitative visual and audio content is my primary mission.
I believe that the Cultural Center of the US Embassy, America House Chisinau, is the perfect frame to interact and exchange experience with interesting people and cultural diversity.
As a graduate of the Law Faculty at the State University of Moldova, and master in Political Science at the Public Administration Academy under the Government of Republic of Moldova, I can say that education and professional development should be an important priority for everyone. I am passionate about oratory, NLP, psychology, jazz and etno-balcanic music, Latin social dance and literature. So, promoting values such as democracy, education, cultural diversity and interests are the cornerstone of the goal I want to realize.
MIHAELA POPESCU – ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
“The daily interaction with different categories of people makes me feel full of energy. America House is the right place to interact with American culture and values. Where you can explore everything that America means, develop your English skills, and meet real American people. I am Mihaela and I have over 8 years of experience working with young people and the field directly related to youth policies and development.
I have a degree in international law at the Institute of International Relations of the Republic of Moldova, and a master’s degree in public policy at the University of Political and Administrative Sciences in Bucharest. My passions include skydiving, music, and pop art. I am a girl who will meet you every day and guide you in everything that means Cultural Center of the US Embassy, America House Chisinau”
